FAQs

Q: What does SHAMBA Mean?

A: Literally, the word 'shamba' means farm in Swahili, and the central idea for the SHAMBA foundation was to create a kind of 'urban farm' where the contributions of many hands make light work. We believe giving back should be hands-on, low-cost and high-impact so it can be done frequently!

Q: In what way is Globalive involved in the SHAMBA foundation?

A: The SHAMBA foundation is the charitable arm of Globalive Communications. Part of SHAMBA's Mandate, is to incorporate philanthropy into corporate culture by encouraging and implementing corporate volunteerism through leading by example. We support this part of our mandate by involving Globalive employees in the SHAMBA foundation through the creation of consistent, hands-on and fun volunteer opportunities. Globalive believes that maintaining a philanthropic social culture is an important enabler to giving back to the community and providing team and company morale building opportunities.
